Uncle Oscar's Stoned Rag

about

UNCLE OSCAR’S STONED RAG (Marc Nerenberg – derived from Oscar Stone’s “Stone Rag”)
I recorded this instrumental tune in October 2018 to celebrate the legalisation of cannabis in Canada that month and I gave it a new title specifically for the occasion. This song started out as a not very accurate version of an old tune from the 1920s called “Stone Rag” by a fellow named Oscar Stone, that I learned from a mandolin player in the 1970s. It never was more than a vague approximation of Stone’s tune, and over the years of monkeying around with it, it diverged even further from the original source material – far enough, I think to deserve a new title of its own (though one that refers to the original tune, perhaps with a wink).
